An article was originally written by Justine Jacob THE HABIT OF LOVING OTHERS I don't think that you can love others from the bottom of your heart if you are filled with the negative energy of grudge, jealousy, or unforgiveness. But I agree with you that it is difficult to always remain with a smile on your face and love in your heart. I was taught from school days to forgive others and reconcile with my enemies before sunset each day. I know it is difficult to practice. But just do it continuously for a few weeks, by forgiving enemies, and emptying your ego to love others from the bottom of your heart. Finally, make it a habit of loving others with time. We love our family members. We express our love in many different ways like touching their physical body with love, sharing the sorrows and joys of our life, consoling them during a crisis, motivating them to excel in life, and buying them gifts on special occasions. Living for others is the purpose of all great men. But have you taken steps to love your neighbors and the community you belong to in society? It is important to help people other than your friends and relatives. There are many poor children whose parents are finding it difficult to make ends meet in their lives. If you are a teenager why don't you save some money and give it to the needy, by not going to the movie houses for a few months? I want you as a homemaker not to spend lavishly on the beautification of your face and body in expensive saloons in the cities. At the end of the year, you can give the money saved; to help a poor child attend school in their village. Some adults have the gift of listening with empathy to the sad stories of other people living in society. Join an NGO or a religious group to help others with counseling, during your free time. Another way to show your love and care to other people is to teach children in their community, who cannot attend school due to many reasons. How come a small family living in a remote north Indian village with hay thatched house and two milking buffalo is happier and more content in life than the rest of the 90% of the population of the country? The answer lies in the writings of the Holy Bible and other holy books...."Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, and it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, and always perseveres".
